TriggerNews Private Label Support Advisory Number 1For users of SpyDoctor Version 3.X and Below Spyware Doctor is a very popular program made fairly famous by PC Magazine, who consistently gives it an Editor's Choice award. You may begin experiencing error messages and stoppages when performing a normal shutdown if you recently did a Smart Update on their Version 3.X. This would require you to answer Yes or Okay to possibly multiple dialog boxes during the shutdown process or even perform a hard shutdown to turn your system off. Through the process of elimination, we discovered that by exiting Spyware Doctor first, all problems would disappear when turning our systems off. We immediately contacted PC Tools Research, the maker of Spyware Doctor. Their suggestion was to upgrade to Version 4.0 (it's free to upgrade). We did this and afterwards, all shutdown problems went away. If you use SpyWare Doctor and are experiencing shutdown problems with any TriggerNews Private Label applications we built, please install Version 4.0 of their application. That should take care of your problem. Here are the install instructions that the PC Tools support group sent us: 1. If Spyware Doctor is running, Right click on the Spyware Doctor icon in the notification area (next to the clock on the Windows taskbar) and select "Exit" from the menu that appears. Please also close any instances of Internet Explorer or other browsers.
2. Perform an uninstall of your current version of Spyware Doctor from:
Start > Programs > Spyware Doctor > Uninstall Spyware Doctor 3. Restart PC 4. *IMPORTANT* Make sure that the Spyware Doctor folder (which by default would be under 'C:\Program Files') no longer exists. If the 'Spyware Doctor' folder still exists, please delete the folder.
5. Download Spyware Doctor Release 4.0 from:
6. Install the file that was downloaded in step 5. 7. Restart PC
