Six Easy Steps to Getting Started

1. Download the TriggerNews client. You will be prompted to specify the location where the installer program should be saved. We recommend you save it on your desktop. Once downloaded, double-click on the TriggerNews Installer icon which looks like a computer screen.

   

   It will prompt you through a wizard to install the client on your system. Step 3 of the wizard will allow you to create a shortcut to the TriggerNews client on the desktop instead of placing the TriggerNews start command in the Start / Programs window. We recommend putting the shortcut on your desktop.
    

2. Invoke TriggerNews. Once the client is installed, double-click on the TriggerNews shortcut icon (wherever you placed it) or highlight the TriggerNews command from your Start / Programs window to invoke TriggerNews. You will be prompted for your User Name and password to log into the TriggerNews server. These are the same ones you provided at the time you registered. NOTE: You must respond to the activation email first or your login will fail. This was sent to the email address you supplied when you registered. If you cannot locate the email, please contact support.
    

3. Send yourself a test alert. When you are logged in and connected, go to News Sources and hit the Request Test Alert button to send yourself an alert popup. This will confirm you are connected and able to receive alerts. If a Test Alert did not pop, you may have an issue connecting through your firewall. Read the write-up on firewalls for more information.
    

4. Assign InfoButton^® locations. To set TriggerNews up the first time, go back into News Sources, select an InfoButton source by highlighting one you want from the available list (Example: Wine of the Day) and click on the button you want it assigned to. Repeat until all 6 InfoButton^® locations are assigned with your choices.
    

5. Enter Triggers. Click on the Create Trigger button at the top (with the yellow star). This brings up a dialog box. Begin entering the companies you want to monitor by keying their name and stock symbol into the appropriate fields. To enter a general trigger phrase, use the pull down within the dialog box and highlight trigger phrase. The Trigger Phrase field should then be enabled for data entry. Repeat until all your triggers are entered.
    

6. You are done. Alert popups should begin to occur when news is received from our content providers based on the companies or trigger phrases you just entered.
