Forbes.com to Upgrade to TriggerNews PL News Alerting System New System Provides Unique Co-Branding Opportunity With Zacks.com Portland, Oregon, April 6, 2004 -- News Technologies LLC announced today that Forbes.com will be upgrading their current Business News Alerting system to TriggerNews PL (Private Label). With the upgrade, Forbes.com can now offer third-party online publishers a tool for their users to receive the Forbes.com business news alerts. The news alert system currently provides thousands of Forbes.com visitors access to award-winning, breaking news content updates on their desktop. Zacks.com will be the first company to participate in the Forbes.com program. The new system allows Forbes.com to add multi-media content in their alerts, including linked text, images, streaming audio or streaming video. Users will also be able to select which categories they want to receive news in and/or enter their own trigger words for news matching. "The resounding success of the first alerting system we developed is what led Forbes.com to decide on the more powerful TriggerNews PL system," said Steve Burrows, president of News Technologies. "Forbes.com is already servicing tens of thousands of users and expects to grow that number into the millions with this new system and approach." "We’re excited to make this change and have other companies like Zacks.com participate," said Michael Smith, chief technology officer. "The first system NTL developed for us has worked flawlessly since installation a year ago, and we expect the new system to allow us to provide richer content and a greatly enhanced user experience". "The value of email delivery of content is steadily on the decline," said Stephen Reitmeister, E.V.P. of Zacks Internet Group. "Our goal was to find a more direct route of communicating with our customers. Through our extensive search we found the best possible solution with our partnership with Forbes.com and use of the TriggerNews PL platform."
