Forbes.com Selects News Technologies For Custom News Alerting Service

New Service Provides Forbes.com Users with Additional News Alerts Capability

Portland, Oregon, May 19, 2003 -- News Technologies LLC announced today that Forbes.com became the first company to have a custom version of TriggerNews PL (Private Label) built for them as their new business news alerting service. Already available, it ultimately will service the millions of users who frequent the Forbes.com web site.

Forbes.com users already have the ability to sign-up for and receive key business news alerts in a variety of ways, including via e-mail, cell phones and PDAs. This takes the concept one step further so that customers can choose to have Forbes-branded, advertising-free alerts slide up on their desktop as Forbes.com publishes fresh and informative news throughout the business day. Users may click on subject headers of interest within the slider window and be instantly linked back to the Forbes.com web site to read the full text of an article.

TriggerNews was selected as the underlying technology for the new service based on the speed in which the new Forbes.com application could be built, as well as by offering a rich set of features and functionality.

"Being chosen by such a well-known, successful business site as Forbes.com, after having only launched Triggernews.com, our own premium instant news alerting service just six weeks earlier, is a real testament to the power of our technology and the talents of our people. We literally built the Forbes.com application in 3 weeks using the underlying technology of our mainstream TriggerNews product," said Steve Burrows, President of News Technologies. "This business arrangement greatly enhanced our global visibility and development knowledge relative to massive alert distributions. We are already in discussions with many other companies wanting their own custom-branded alerting service".

"News Technologies’ speed of development and responsiveness to our specifications far exceeded our expectations" said Michael Smith, Chief Technology Officer of Forbes.com. "The new business alerting service benefits Forbes.com’s senior-level executive audience with critical, up-to-the-minute information throughout the business day."
